Vista’s unsearchable folder

All right guys this is my last .. err .. registry hack … for now. the reason for the ‘err’ is that this is not typically a registry hack but we are using the registry to understand Class Identifiers. As for Registry hacks, Its not that there are no more hacks left to discuss, its just that I really wanna move on to the next, more interesting topics. I will keep updating if i come across any new registry hacks. Here is a link to all the registry hacks I have discussed so far

So now if you are one of those people who doesnt use any encryption software and just prefers to hide the folders you dont want anyone snooping at then this hack is for you. And to be honest it is great to use an encryption software because there is obviously added security and it is fail-proof but if you dont have anything that is really sensitive then hiding the particular folder is not a bad idea at all. but there is a catch. even if your sibling/spouse has a clue of what the name of the file is then its a simple matter to just go to search and select the option of searching hidden files and folders so what this hack basically does is stop windows from showing such files/folders in the search results.

Its really simple just put the extension .{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} to your folder. remember to put the dot as well as the curly brackets

So the name of your folder should look like this:

My Secret shit.{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}

and yes finally !! my next post will be on something else … wait and watch 🙂

untill next time,
