Suppose you are in a safe environment (yeah right!) … with no nosy parents, siblings or spouse waiting for you to get off your comp to see what you were doing.  in such a scenario having to type your password everytime your get your computer out of sleep mode is a bit of a hassle, especially if you are juggling between two tasks

Enter AutoAdminLogon

in order for you to be able to login to your computer without punching in your password you will have to change the value of AutoAdminLogon and do a couple of more things. they are given in steps below:

NOTE: if you havent already, then read the precautions here

  • First of all, launch regedit. dont know how? read my previous post here
  • navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon
  • On your right panel, you will see a key named AutoAdminLogon right click on it, click on Modify from the drop down menu and change the value from 0 to 1.
  • Right click on a blank spot on the right panel and make a new string value from the drop down menu called DefaultPassword. Set it as ‘P@ssw0rd’
  • See if you have a key DefaultUserName on your right panel and that it’s value is your user name. incase you dont have the key then make one by again right clicking on the right panel and choosing new->string value

You will have to Restart your computer and then these settings will take into effect.
